The two-day mega event will take place on May 19 and 20 at the company’s headquarters in Mountain View, California. Google CEO Sundar Pichai shared the announcement on the social media platform X, inviting developers and technology enthusiasts from around the world to join the conference. According to media reports and industry experts, this year’s conference is expected to place strong emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovations and next-generation wearable devices.
One of the key highlights could be upgraded versions of Google’s advanced AI model, Gemini. Demonstrations are expected to showcase how Gemini is further enhancing Android and other Google applications, making them more intelligent and responsive.

Speculation is mounting around Google’s anticipated AI-powered smart glasses. The company had hinted in December 2025 about launching its first AI-integrated eyewear in 2026. Industry observers believe Google I/O 2026 could offer the first official glimpse or even the launch of the wearable device.
At Google I/O 2025, which began on May 20 last year, the company unveiled several AI-driven tools, including Gemini 2.5 (with Pro and Flash updates), Google Beam, Imagen 4, and Veo 3. The event underscored Google’s growing commitment to artificial intelligence.

During the 2025 conference, Pichai declared that Google is now an “AI-first” company, with Gemini deeply integrated across products such as Search, Gmail, Meet, Maps, and Calendar. With expectations running high, Google I/O 2026 is set to outline the company’s future roadmap and reinforce its AI-centric strategy in the global technology landscape.
